Diam Bouchage’s range of bio-sourced closures is expanding!

25 March 2025

Now offering 4 closures with different characteristics, winegrowers can choose an eco-designed Diam Origine 3, 5, 10 or 30 closure depending on the aging potential and oxygen requirements of their wine.

A key line of research

Resolutely focused on innovation, Diam Bouchage has been working for 20 years on 3 main lines of research: gas exchange management, closure esthetics and natural raw materials.

As regards the latter, in a major technological breakthrough, Diam Bouchage launched its Origine by Diam range in 2017. The never-before-seen formulation integrates a beeswax emulsion and a 100% plant-based polyol binding agent in the closure’s cork.

This range is the result of numerous years of research and offers an even more natural closure solution while ensuring that the reliability of Diam® closures remains intact when it comes to organoleptic security, consistency and controlled permeability.

Initially proposed for long-aging wines, Origine closures are now available for faster moving wines. So Diam 3 Origine has a mechanical guarantee of 3 years and a slightly higher oxygen input than the other versions: Diam 5 Origine, Diam 10 Origine and Diam 30 Origine.

A response to the market’s real preoccupation

In 7 years, the Origine by Diam range has won over many clients of the brand that, today, sells over 30 million bio-sourced closures around the world.

“Today, our bio-sourced range has experienced very significant market growth. And it’s not only our biodynamic clients who are enthusiastic about this product that meets their own environmental challenges while maintaining the desired aging of their bottled wines. We are convinced that this range represents a solution for the future of winemaking as it aligns product security with a very real preoccupation of sustainability.” François Margot, Sales Director, Diam Bouchage

Our R&D department is now working on the next Origine closures, which will be available in the coming months: Mytik Diam Origine for sparkling wines and Setop Diam Origine for spirits.
